Fat Farmers and Active Farmers Integration

When two organisations share the same purpose — to improve the health and wellbeing of rural communities — and have been working towards that goal for over a decade, joining forces just makes sense. Together, we can reach more towns, support more people, and create an even bigger impact across regional Australia.

It is with great excitement that we announce that two leading rural health organisations, Fat Farmers Rural Health Initiative and Active Farmers, are joining forces - combining their shared passion and purpose to improve the health and wellbeing of farmers and rural communities across Australia. For more than a decade, both organisations have worked tirelessly to support regional Australians through physical activity, connection, and proactive health initiatives. Now, with the integration of Active Farmers into Fat Farmers Rural Health Initiative, we will be able to reach more towns, support more people, and create an even greater impact across regional Australia.

The addition of the Active Farmers network to the current Fat Farmers groups means that the initiative is now truly national, with over 80 rural communities being supported.

There are clear plans in place that will see that number grow to over 200 country towns and communities over the next 24 months.

Here's the list of current Fat Farmers Groups (we've hit over 40!) and list of current Active Farmers groups (over 40 too!)

Frequently Asked Questions.

Will our group structure stay the same?

It sure will! Nothing is going to change from the way your group is already run.

Is Michael still my first point of contact?

He sure is!

Will the "Fat Farmers" name stay on our merchandise and socials?

It certainly will! Fat Farmers isn't going anywhere and the Active Farmers brand will stay for the foreseeable future. The brand, community presence, and name “Active Farmers” will continue - Fat Farmers Rural Health Initiative will be the umbrella organisation behind the scenes. Over time, you may see shared branding or co-branded materials but nothing will change before early 2026, and all updates will be communicated clearly with guidance.

What’s the timeline — when will we see any changes?

Integration is gradual, with full transition by January 2026.

Key dates:

  • 18 Nov 2025: Public announcement

  • 1 Jan 2026: Active Farmers officially operates under Fat Farmers Rural Health Initiative.

Operationally, there will be little to no change before that time — it’s designed to be seamless.

We're so appreciative of your ongoing support of Fat Farmers, which allows us to drive this growth so we can help more farmers improve their physical and mental health. We're supporting more people and creating an even bigger impact across regional Australia.
