Kicking Off the Festive Season at the Jamestown Christmas Pageant
We couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate the countdown to Christmas than by joining the Jamestown Christmas Pageant! With festive spirit in the air and the community out in full force, it was a wonderful day of connection, celebration and proactive health conversations.
Thanks to the support of Preventive Health SA, we were excited to take the Health Hub out for the very first time! The pageant provided the perfect opportunity to introduce the it to the community, and show how we’re bringing preventive health directly to regional and rural towns, in a way that’s accessible, welcoming and stigma-free.
Throughout the day, Flinders University’s International Centre for Point-of-Care Testing offered free heart health and diabetes checks, with 50 community members taking the opportunity to learn more about their risk for Type 2 diabetes, and heart health. These simple tests can provide powerful insights, helping people better understand their risk factors and, importantly, start conversations about early intervention and lifestyle changes before issues become more serious.

Beyond the health checks, the day was filled with great conversations, plenty of smiles and a strong sense of community — exactly what events like the Jamestown Christmas Pageant are all about. Seeing families, friends and locals stopping by the Health Hub to ask questions, have a chat and take a proactive step towards their health was incredibly rewarding.
This was just the beginning. We’re incredibly excited to be part of many more community events like this in the year ahead, continuing to meet people where they are and supporting healthier, stronger rural communities.
